Geez Luise – it’s halfway through week 15 and I’m just now getting this up there. Time freaking flies. And PS how is Sunday September? #wheredidsummergo?
This growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces – about the size of an apple. She/he’s busy moving amniotic fluid through her/his nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in the lungs begin to develop. His/her legs are growing longer than her/his arms now, and they can move all of their joints and limbs. Although their eyelids are still fused shut, they can sense light. If I shined a flashlight at my stomach, for instance, the baby is likely to move away from the beam (crazy!) There’s not much for your baby to taste at this point, but they are forming taste buds.
This baby is also growing like crazy. I went into the dr yesterday because I have been having this constant pain/cramp on my left side. After 2 calls where they told me it was round ligament pain and it should eventually stop, they finally let me see a dr when I told them this week that this pain basically never goes away. Of course I’d done all my google research and there honestly wasn’t a lot else it could be but I still felt better going in. Basically they think this is some sort of muscular pain. The baby/my uterus is actually measuring 16 weeks and the dr thinks the baby went through a growth spurt and basically pulled my muscle. Apparently round ligament pain goes away if you bend/flex toward the pain but mine doesn’t so it’s not that. Unfortunately there’s not much I can do. She suggested yoga and then pool exercises to stretch out/go easy on my muscles but I just have to deal with the pain (I can take Tylenol but I’m not a fan of drugs while preggo). Hopefully this goes away. I’m suppose to go to Austin in 2 weeks for work but the dr suggested not going since sitting on the plane/traveling for 6-8 hours will really cramp things up. Oh and when she was listening to the heartbeat she said the baby was moving like crazy! So basically I have a big wiggly baby :) Even more reason I think it’s a boy.
After the weekend I swear I was through the worst of the morning sickness, I mean, I felt pretty normal on Saturday. Sunday I didn’t feel that hot but I chalked it up to doing too much but when I had some pretty decent nausea when I went to bed I had a feeling Monday morning wouldn’t start out that well. And I was right. Monday was horrible. I felt super, super nauseous. So bad I almost didn’t even go in to work. What the heck? Tues and Wed were about the same. Not quite as bad as Monday but I definitely felt queezy all day long. Today I actually feel ok. I got a little nauseous around lunchtime and because I’m sick of my PB&J (as in I never want to eat one for the rest of my life) I grabbed a salad. It didn’t feel that good going down but eventually I seemed to be ok and felt pretty good for the rest of the afternoon.
Because I felt like crap for a few days this week I really didn’t do much on S-Tuesday. Yesterday I went on a 60 min walk with Amanda and today I went on another 60 min walk with the Chance dog. I also did Pilates Reformer today. I’ve done it a couple times in the last 3 weeks but today was the best. I went to a different teacher – one who is a little more focused on form then speed. Normally her class is a little slow for me but it seems to be perfect with her modifications. There was even another preggo lady in class and we got to have our own weight section while everyone else did moves on their stomach. Hopefully pilates because a staple from here on out. I’m hoping to go Tue/Thur and then go to a per-natal class on Wednesdays.
Still not really craving anything although I have been on a bagel kick this week. Chris had some left over from Hood to Coast and that plus cream cheese have been delicious. Plus since I haven’t been feeling good, the bagel’s seem to settle my stomach. I did manage to only have half for breakfast this morning (plus my regular eggs) so I felt better about not just eating a ton of wasteful white flour carbs. I’ve also been forcing myself to eat avocados which my eggs like my “normal” pre pregnancy days. They’re still gross but at least I can get a little of the healthy fat. I also have been able to eat roasted Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes. Just small portions each day but it’s something. And speaking of veggies, I actually ate salads for both lunch and dinner! Baby got some greens today. Plus fresh blackberries from the backyard.
We had our new shed built. Chris found these people who built the shed in one day! It’s pretty gigantic…a little bigger than we initially thought it would be but I love it. The plan is to move tools, firewood, lawnmowers and misc garage stuff into the shed to make room for my gym (bike and treadmill) which is currently in the baby’s room. So we’re making progress. Just a little longer until we find out if this is a boy or a girl so we can really get after the nursery.
And now that I’m falling asleep while writing, I figure it’s time to stop. Hopefully everything I’ve written makese sense. I’ve still got pictures to put up about our weekends in Bend and the beach for Hood to Coast last weekend…one day.
